Anantapur: Puttaparthi and surrounding areas were placed under tight security following President Drupadi Murmu’s two-hour visit on Wednesday as the chief guest of the 42nd annual general meeting of the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Education held in Puttaparthi. It was written.

Several other VIPs are expected to visit the town as part of the ongoing 98th birth anniversary celebrations of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, which will end on Thursday.

President Murmu is expected to arrive at Sathya Sai Airport by special plane around 2:30 pm. Around 2,000 police personnel, including five IPS officers, 15 ASPs and 40 DSPs from Rayalaseema region, will be stationed in Puttaparthi to provide security for the VIPs.

Sathyasai district SP SV Madhava Reddy said the use of drone cameras in a two-kilometre area above Puttaparthi and its surroundings has been banned for two days.

The President will stay at the Srinivasam Guest House within the Mandir premises. She will visit Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s Mahasamadhi, besides attending the convocation at Sai Hira Convention Hall.

Principal Drupadi Murmu will address the students and award gold medals to 21 students from various branches of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Education. After convening, they will depart for Delhi from Sathyasai Airport at around 4:30 pm.

Traffic diversions will be made during the visit of Drupadi Murmu. Vehicles heading towards Puttaparthi from Bangalore, Kotacheruvu and Gorantla will be diverted at the super specialty hospital via Brahmanapalle, Enumrapalle and Chitravati bypass. Similarly, vehicles from Nalamada and Bukkapatnam reach Puttaparthi via Nagepalli Bridge, Sai Nagar and Chinnampalli ZP High School in Karnataka.

Collector Arun Babu, DIGs RS Ami Reddy and Ravi Prakash and SP Madhava Reddy reviewed the security measures along the route from the airport to Prasanthi Nilayam and the convention hall.

Madhava Reddy said tight security arrangements have been made in areas around Ganesh Gate, West Gate, Santhi Bhawan, Sai Kulwant Hall and Prasanthi Nilayam.
