The Indian Consulate General in New York announced on Friday that an Indian student has died in the US state of Ohio.
The consulate general said an investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of death.
The deceased Indian national was identified as Uma Sathya Sai Gadde.
According to reports, he was studying abroad in Cleveland, Ohio.
Following the Indian man’s death, the Indian Consulate in New York posted on X: “We are deeply saddened by the unfortunate death of Uma Sathya Sai Gadde, an Indian student from Cleveland, Ohio.”

“The police investigation is ongoing. @IndiainNewYork continues to be in contact with family members in India,” the consulate said in a statement. “We are providing all possible assistance, including transferring Uma Gadde’s remains to India as soon as possible,” the ministry said.
Several Indians found dead in the US in 2024
Sameer Kamath, a student from India, was found dead in the woods of a nature reserve in the United States last week.
He was a doctoral student at Purdue University in Indiana.
Four serious incidents were recorded this year.
Recently, Shreyas Reddy Bennigar, 19, a student at Linder School of Business in Ohio, was found dead.
Purdue University student Neil Acharya was found dead on campus hours after his mother reported him missing.
On January 16, Vivek Saini from Haryana was beaten to death by a homeless man in Lithonia, Georgia.
Another Indian student, Akkur Dhawan, was found dead outside the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in January.
Hyderabad student injured after being chased and attacked by four men in Chicago
Meanwhile, a student from Hyderabad was seriously injured when four armed robbers attacked him near his home in Chicago, US.
The video shows the student bleeding profusely, saying he was kicked and punched by the robbers. The robbers also took his cell phone.
The victim, Syed Mazahir Ali, was a resident of Langar Hauz in Hyderabad and had come to the United States to pursue a master’s degree from Indiana Wesleyan University.
