The Indian Consulate in New York on Friday announced the death of an Indian student in the US state of Ohio.

The consulate said an investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of death.

The deceased Indian national has been identified as Uma Sathya Sai Gadde.

He was reportedly studying in Cleveland, Ohio.

Following the death of the Indian national, the Indian Consulate in New York posted on X, “We are deeply saddened by the unfortunate death of Uma Sathya Sai Gadde, an Indian student from Cleveland, Ohio.”

“Police investigations are ongoing. @IndiainNewYork continues to be in contact with her family in India,” the consulate said. “We are providing all possible assistance, including ensuring Uma Gadde’s body is transported to India as soon as possible,” it said.

In 2024, several Indian residents were found dead in the United States.

Sameer Kamath, a student from India, was found dead in the woods at a nature reserve in the US last week.

He was a doctoral student at Purdue University in Indiana.

Four major incidents were recorded this year.

Recently, Shreyas Reddy Beniger, 19, a student at the Linder School of Business in Ohio, was found dead.

Purdue University student Neil Acharya was found dead on campus just hours after his mother reported him missing.

Vivek Saini, from Haryana, was beaten to death by a homeless man in Lithonia, Georgia on January 16.

Another Indian student, Akul Dhawan, was found dead outside the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in January.

Meanwhile, a student from Hyderabad was seriously injured in an attack by four armed robbers near his home in Chicago, US.

The video showed the student, bleeding profusely, saying he had been kicked and punched by the robbers, who also stole his cell phone.

The victim, Syed Mazahir Ali, a resident of Rangar Hauz in Hyderabad, had come to the US to pursue a master’s degree from Indiana Wesleyan University.
