30,000 pediatric heart surgeries performed at no cost through the Gift of Life program.

Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospitals in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Raipur, Chhattisgarh and Palwal, Haryana, celebrated the completion of 30,000 free pediatric cardiac surgeries and interventions under their ‘Gift of Life’ programme in the presence of Chairman Dr C. Sreenivas and Sunil Gavaskar, Trustee and former Captain of the Indian cricket team, among others.

Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital has also launched India’s first free medical skills training programme at the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Medical Skills Development Institute, offering a fully subsidised one-year programme for students in grades 10 or 12. Focusing on high-demand medical-surgical assistant and allied medical skills roles in healthcare, the programme provides technical training, skills development and personality development support to promote self-confidence and empowerment among the youth, especially from rural areas and socio-economically backward sections of the country.

Announcing the completion of 30,000 surgeries, Dr C Sreenivas, Chairman, Sri Sathya Sai Health Education Trust said, “Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani is built on the stories of 30,000 children with congenital heart diseases and their families from across the world. What began as a hospital 12 years ago is today a social change movement in the service of the nation. These children will grow up to be contributing citizens of Vikasit Bharat, carrying forward the legacy of selfless love passed on through Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani.”

“We are also pleased to announce the launch of a free one-year programme for students who have completed 10th or 12th grade at our Skill Development Institute. The programme will educate, empower and make students employable in the healthcare sector in high-demand roles of Medical and Surgical Assistants and allied healthcare skills. This is a nation-building initiative by upskilling rural youth in the healthcare sector,” Dr C Sreenivas added.

Gavaskar, who has sponsored hundreds of heart surgeries at Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital, is spreading stories of hope as the initiative’s brand ambassador. Reflecting on the achievement, he said, “I consider this the third and most fulfilling innings of my life as children are getting a new healthy future through free surgeries at Sai Sanjeevani Hospital. These children may become successful sportspeople, artists or world leaders in the future. I invite you to join us on this transformational journey.”
