This year’s Grammy Awards seemed more like a bizarre costume party than a music show, with Madonna dressed as a bullfighter and Pharrell Williams channeling Mickey Mouse and the Grand Budapest Hotel.

But perhaps the oddest outfit belonged to Prince, who appeared to have borrowed an outfit from the late Indian saint Sathya Sai Baba, as he appeared onstage, walking stick in hand, in an orange top and trousers that both shone much more brightly than the award he was presenting.

It was an outfit very similar to that of Sathya Sai Baba, the Indian guru, spiritual leader and philanthropist who claimed to be the reincarnation of Sai Baba of Shirdi.

The “Purple Rain” singer was at the Grammys to present the Album of the Year award, which went to Beck. “Morning Phase.” Presenting the award, Prince said, “Albums still matter, just like books and black lives still matter.”

“Weird Al” Yankovic, who won a Grammy for best comedy album, said of Prince, “He’s the only guy who’s always turned down parodies. I’m a huge Prince fan. If he wants to go bowling with me or play patchusi with me, I’m definitely up for it.”
