The mysterious death of another Indian student in the US has garnered attention. The student, identified as Uma Sathya Sai Gadde, died in Cleveland, Ohio, according to the Indian Consulate General in New York.
In a post to X, the consulate wrote that police are investigating the untimely death. “We are deeply saddened to learn of the unfortunate death of Uma Sathya Sai Gadde, an Indian student from Cleveland, Ohio.”
He said he was in touch with Gadde’s family in India. The embassy added, “We are providing all possible support, including moving Uma Gadde’s remains to India as soon as possible.”
According to reports, this is the 10th such incident in the US involving an Indian or student of Indian descent.

Georgia MBA student Vivek Saini was assaulted and killed at a convenience store by a homeless drug addict. The incident occurred on January 16, when a 25-year-old man who had previously helped Julian Faulkner reportedly refused to give him free food, which led to Faulkner killing him with a hammer. .
Syed Mazahir Ali, a student from India, was brutally attacked in Chicago earlier this year.
That same month, two Indian students, Gattu Dinesh, 22, and Nikesh, 21, “died in their sleep” at their home in Connecticut. The roommates, who were pursuing master’s degrees in computer science, reportedly died of suspected carbon monoxide poisoning.
The deaths of Shreyas Reddy Benigeri, Akkul Dhawan and Neel Acharya in separate incidents in the US this year have also raised concerns.

Following a spate of attacks on Indians and students of Indian descent in the United States, the White House said in February that President Joe Biden and his administration were working “very hard” to prevent and disrupt such incidents.
