Since 2016, the Awards have recognised individuals in seven categories across the world, with a special focus on India, South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. The Awards’ essential goal is to promote life transformation through the pursuit of human excellence.
This year, Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC Limited is the sponsor of the awards. Rajashree Birla, Chairperson, Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural Development, Mr. Yogesh Pandya, High Commissioner to India to Fiji and Mr. Chris Sunday Eze, High Commissioner to India to Nigeria were the guests of honour at the event. The eminent jury of the awards, including Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma and Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam, were also present in the event.
The concept of the fourth awards ceremony was “Unsung Heroes of India” which highlighted the lesser known, humble yet talented helpers and gave them an honourable platform to stand tall to showcase the power of their goodness and selflessness to the world.
The 2019 awardees were: Education – Gitanjali – Founder Member & CEO, Himalayan Institute for Alternatives, Ladakh; Environment – Wilma Rodrigues – Founder, Saahas Zero Waste; Health – Chethan Manchegowda – Founder, Khun; Music & Art – Himanshu S – Founder, Dharavi Art Room; Religious Unity Award was given to Hindu Seva Pratishthana. The organisation is selflessly serving in various fields like rural development, literacy, untouchability eradication, child education, family and individual counselling, rehabilitation of physically challenged and special needs children; Women & Child Welfare Award was given to Anju Verma, Founder, Brand Udaan; Sports – Mahantesh GK – Founder, Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled and Blind Cricket Association of India.
